Ergogenic Effects Of Betaine Supplementation On Strength And Power Performance

この研究の注釈:

In otherwise healthy men with at least three months of training, supplementation of betaine (2.5g daily in two divided doses of 1.25g) for two weeks given a weight training program (mixture of power based exercise and standard weight training) noted that power output was increased on the bench press when assessing isometric and peak power output whereas the squat only saw benefit with isometric; repetitions to fatigue at 85% 1RM failed to see improvement.

Betaine Supplementation Enhances Anabolic Endocrine And Akt Signaling In Response To Acute Bouts Of Exercise

この研究の注釈:

Supplementation of betaine at 1.25g twice daily for one week appears to, when exercising in a fasted state, increase IGF-1 (7.8%) and reduce cortisol concentrations (6.1%) and nonsignificantly increase growth hormone (6.1%) relative to placebo.

This study noted that the decrease in Akt/P70S6K signalling (anabolic signalling) during exercise was attenuated with betaine, but AMPK was not affected.

Betaine Supplementation Decreases Plasma Homocysteine Concentrations But Does Not Affect Body Weight, Body Composition, Or Resting Energy Expenditure In Human Subjects

この研究の注釈:

In obese subjects given supplementation of betaine at 6g daily for 12 weeks was able to decrease homocysteine (9%) relative to placebo but the decrease in total cholesterol and LDL seen in placebo was not present in betaine intervention; there was no influence on body weight. There was no influence on plasma nor RBC folate concentrations.

The increase in ALP (liver enzyme) seen in placebo was prevented with betaine.

Influence Of Betaine Consumption On Strenuous Running And Sprinting In A Hot Environment

この研究の注釈:

In 10 otherwise healthy male runners given betaine (5g per liter of solution) as a rehydration formula after mild exercise-induced dehydration, betaine failed to subsequently increased physical performance on a treadmill test relative to the control (regardless of whether betaine was paired with water or carbohydrate/electrolyte solution) although there may have been a minor increase in oxygen consumption in the final sprint of the betaine plus carbohydrate group (VO2 max was still unaffected). Thirst was also unaffected as well as plasma electrolytes.
