Subjects received 100mg/kg Nettle Root (hydroalcoholic extract) daily for 8 weeks, had the pre-existing state of type II diabetes.

IL-6, a biomarker for inflammation, decreased along with C-reactive protein over the 8 week supplementation period. No effect on TNF-a reached significance due to variation at baseline and in control.

Weight and BMI as well as Insulin Sensitivity (measured by the Katz equation of fasting glucose and insulin (PMID:10902785)) were unchanged.
